De meeste meiden van rond mijn leeftijd (28) en ouder zullen r&b zangeres Mary J Blige ongetwijfeld kennen. Mary J Blige is sterk en daadkrachtig, zo komt ze over in haar videoclips, zang en ook in real life. Haar lyrics kunnen je een boost geven: yes i can! Maar wat je vast niet weet is dat deze dame haar middelbare school nooit afgemaakt heeft. 25 jaar later is ze toch terug gegaan naar school om haar diploma te halen. Dat is op zich al bijzonder, maar Mary J Blige heeft zelfs een stichting opgezet voor andere vrouwen die net als haar de middelbare school niet afgerond hebben. Damn, kijk dat is nu wat ik bedoel met sterk en daadkrachtig! Niet alleen heeft ze een super muziekcarriere, maar ze neemt toch de tijd om zelf vooruit te komen en om anderen te helpen. Niet zoals een Perez Hilton of Kim Kardashian geld innen en alleen aan zichzelf uitgeven, nee anderen oprecht helpen juist omdat je het geld hebt en principes hebt. Perez en Kim kunnen heel wat leren van Mary J Blige en ik weet zeker dat zelfs Oprah het met mij eens zou zijn (Mary J Blige was bij Oprah te gast).
